Review of Beasts of No Nation (2015) by Henry A — 17 Oct 2015
There have been war films made, but only some of them truly make you feel like you have experienced it yourself. Apocalypse Now, Full Metal Jacket, Saving Private Ryan... They all have that spirit within them to tell a gritty story about what war does to someone.
Beasts of No Nation sits proudly amongst those, as a film about the loss of innocence, and the horrors of violence. This is as true a contender for Best Picture as I have ever seen in the last few years, and that is really saying something.
It grabs you, and doesn't let you go. Most of all, it is nothing less than a masterpiece.
