Review of Battle Royale (2000) by Joshua T — 15 May 2012
The Hunger Games? Please. This is a real take on the subject with the kind of raw emotion and no-holds-barred violence the premise demands. You can't tell a story of teenagers killing each other intent on leaving a single survivor without going the full nine yards.
This movie does just that. It delivers everything it promises and then some. Hunger Games fans should be required to see this movie; it can educate them on how misleading the cultural zeitgeist is ninety percent of the time.
