Review of Baby Face (1933) by Priyu K — 25 Sep 2011
An intelligibly sexy, and sleek film noir with the right bit of grit and raw power. Stanwyck is a force of nature once again. The ending takes the noir genre's typical tendency to berate or antagonize the femme fatale, and adds a human touch, blaming no one, explaining the motives behind lily's psychology and then connecting all sympathies at the end, by returning stanwyck's character to her compassionate beginnings through the discovery of true love, and a man who she can finally depend on.
