An unusual story of a hotel waiter in early 1900's Dublin, in a "trouser-role" played by Glenn Close. With exquisite attention to detail in costume, scenery and cinematography, this story is a heart breaking tale of the constraints of social strata between the "upstairs/downstairs" classes at that time.

The unfortunate ending and the struggles of these people makes one reflect upon how important it is to live life to the fullest when you have the opportunity. Well worth seeing. If the Academy Awards were not so competitive, I think Albert Nobbs would have a real shot a winning best actress for Glenn Close and maybe even best picture.
