An expensive historical movie from the Russians about one man's personal drama in Russian historic turmoil concerning the Revolution and Contrarevolution. The shots are nice and wide, the music is right the storylines tries to be accurate but.
..the love story behind it is so aenemic that it needs some good transfusion. A whole movie without a kiss? Who would wait, and go after his love and leave husband and lingers without any physical contact.
Maybe it is the cold weather or the time's morality but the The Barber of Siberia does it much much better.
