Review of Zulu (2013) by John D — 13 Apr 2014
I stumbled upon this movie browsing some random site having never seen it promoted anywhere. I was intrigued by it when I seen Forest Whitaker was playing the lead and that it was set in South Africa.
Zulu starts out interesting at first but quickly turns in a cliched cop drama set in an unusual location. That is not a deal breaker for me but having a poorly executed second and third act is, that is something harder to forgive when dealing with a familiar story. If you're a big fan of Whitaker or you need to see Orlando Bloom's take on the classic drunk pill-popping cop who doesn't have his sh*t together and gets naked, (yes that means dong) than you'll probably want to see it. If not, i'd skip it.
