Review of Zulu (1964) by Jeff F — 26 May 2010
This is one of the best movies of all time, a true four star film. Outside of the historical inaccuracies (The Zulu's lost and left so they could battle for power within their tribe) and the now politically correct thinking of hating anything related to war (at least publicly), this is a great "guy" film.
The fact this is based on a true story enhances the film. Eighty soldiers with little or no battle experience follow their orders...hold off 4,000 Zulus.
Now, the blu-ray version: absolutely outstanding. This is the best transfer from old film I have ever seen. If you are a Zulu fan, you will be shocked at the transfer. It is so worth having you may actually start to giggle when you start seeing the first scenes. Outstanding doesn't even to come close to describing the quality.
