I still watch this movie even now as I went out and bought the recent dvd version of it recently. I saw it when it first came out and was particularly taken with Michael Caine's performance. I just can't remember how many times I have watcheed it.

As movies based on factual events go it is pretty accurate. One thing of course it doesn't mention is that a number of the VC awards became posthumous and that one of the officers was later KIA.
