Review of Zulu (1964) by Margaux B — 29 Mar 2009
I usually get bored with these types of films because they can get rather slow moving at times, but this one somehow held my attention and I really enjoyed it. Must have had to do with my slight obsession with Africa the past couple years :) Michael Caine was perfectly cast as a Bromhead, a young snooty Lieutenant that grates on your nerves at first.
It was also really interesting to see the Zulu tribe's traditions and dress, and also their very strategic methods of battling against the British who seemd to have been caught very off guard by this, coupled with how severly undermanned they were too.
Not sure how historically accurate it is (especially the end - would the Zulu's really have saluted their bravery and backed down?), but seems like a classic film to have in your collection.
