It is one of my all time favourite movies, if not, my favourite. I first watched it when I was about five years old and it is the first movie I can remember watching. I have always held the movie closely and when I was young, I would watch it everyday.

My mum or dad would return it to the video shop, only to have me crying on the floor, wanting them to re-rent it. I have no idea why, at such an early age I loved it. I mean, it is a weird film for a little kid to watch, I should have been watching Sesame Street or the fuckin' Muppets or something.

The whole brotherhood thing I respect, there is nothing cooler than a small group of soldiers fighting together against an enemy of thousands. You can see that people like Peter Jackson and Ridley Scott have been influenced by the battle scenes in this movie.

Michael Caine is clearly a pimp and he has never been as good as he was in this movie. Sure, it's beginning to become outdated, you can see the little holes, like when a British soldier hits a Zulu with a rifle, but you can see that he clearly misses.

Sometimes that is laughable but who cares? The ending is my favourite part, where the British soldiers sing, it is such a goosebump moment. I fear that someday, somebody will come along and remake it, completely fucking it up.

Hopefully, they do it justice, if it comes along.
