Review of Zootopia (2016) by Paul J — 10 Sep 2016
One of Disney's best films. Judy Hopps is an adorable character and the story is filled with clever comedy, heartfelt moments and best of all, a strong social commentary. It is like a modern re-telling of George Orwell's Animal Farm.
Zootopia is not only a play on Utopia, but ultimately it becomes a dystopia. The writing is smart enough to place our hero at the center of this calamity. The first act and third act are the strongest.
The second act gets a little pedestrian but all is forgiven with a couple brilliant plot twists near the end. It is a relevant and important film dealing with stereotypes and racism. All kids (and adults) need to watch this.
Judy Hopps is an inspiration!
