Review of Zootopia (2016) by Dragonsfoe . — 17 Aug 2016
Jesse and Woolter cooking it up.
Zootopia is quite a marvelous film. Since Tangled Disney animation has been upping its standards, with Frozen and Big Hero 6. This might be their best film in the 3D animation department yet, setting a high bar for Lin Manuel's songs in Moana.
Zootopia is a very mature movie, but it's just as important for kids as well as adults. It's themes on racism and drugs are very clear, but they are not all up in the audiences face. The film is so bright and fun, it is unlike any other film put onto screen. It is so unique in a time when so many films lack originality. It characters, landscapes, story and humor are all fantastic. It is another instant classic.
If there were any problems, it would have to do with convenience in both revelations and events. The film also had an unnecessary reliance on Gazelle which came to be annoying.
This is a film filled with heart and lessons that is sure to make an impact on children everywhere, and that is exactly what is needed in films today. Great role models, and effective lesson on how to deal with the dangers of the world.
Rating: 8.4 (A).
