Review of Zoolander (2001) by Stefan G — 16 Dec 2013
There are some genuine laughs to be hand in Ben Stiller's pet project "Zoolander", but the film is not tight enough to become too much of a classic comedy. While the "Centre for Ants" scene has entered everyday lexicon, the rest of the film is not entirely memorable (unless, of course, you count a flamboyant cameo from music legend David Bowie).
This is despite a comic pedigree that includes Stiller, Will Ferrell, Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughn and Milla Jokovich, and cameos from everyone from Paris Hilton to Donald Trump to Natalie Portman to Bowie.
Stiller has since perfected his directing with "Tropic Thunder" (though his results with "Walter Mitty" remain to be seen), so should a sequel eventuate it may be better, but this film feels underdone.
