Review of Zoolander 2 (2016) by Russell P — 22 Feb 2016
"Zoolander 2" finds fashion icons Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller) and Hansel (Owen Wilson) in seclusion after their fashion careers have plummeted. They are called upon by an Interpol agent (Penelope Cruz) to find a criminal syndicate hunting down good looking pop stars, including Justin Bieber.
There are not many good things I can say about this film except that it knows what kind of film it wants to be, a screwball comedy that is random to the core with a bunch of celebrity cameos. The plot is hamfisted at best and what we critics like to call scattershot.
The movie is only sporadically funny, and many of the jokes miss their mark. Ben Stiller is comatose in his performance and none of the other actors really have a chance to shine either. Kristen Wiig looks like she has a stick up her ass.
This film is really dumb and random and is a middle of the road comedy ------------------------------------------------ C.
