Review of Zookeeper (2011) by Roxanne R — 12 Oct 2011
Lovely and great motion picture with a very good message: Never change to please others; instead follow your heart and your instincts because they know..In this movie, the Lead Caretaker at the Frankling zoo is Griffin Keyes (Kevin James).
He knows each creature, spends time with them, even bottle fed one of the lion cubs born in captivity at the zoo, Griffin's passion is the zoo and being the BEST zookeeper around. He fell in love with Stephanie (Leslie Bibb) a bit$# who is only concerned about her looks, her friends, and designer labels.
.funny how some people thought Stephanie was out of Griffin's "league" due to her connections, so called aspirations, and style. Frankly she was not out of his league, he was better off without her because Stephanie was and is a joke! An empty shell whose arrogance, ego and greed makes her so unappealing, so despicable, so disgusting.
..After Griffin planned an amazing day at the beach with horseback riding, mariachis, and fireworks to propose to this scumbag of Stephanie, she turns him down. So poor Griffin was devastated and the zoo animals could sense his sadness, depression.
..Griffin thinks leaving the zoo and taking a job as an exotic car salesman where his brother works at is the ticket to land him a "beauty" like Stephanie...The zoo animals decide its time to take matters into their own hands and start speaking to Griffin, to show him the ropes about courtship, dating, and to stand up for himself.
..the irony is that Griffin has a co-worker, a veterinarian named Kate (Rosario Dawson) who always cared for him more than just friendship..But Kate decides to accept a job as veterinarian at zoo in Africa since she saw how Griffin changed his ways and was becoming just like Stephanie, a heartless, greedy, materialistic a**hole.
Will the zoo animals be able to remove the wool over Griffin's eyes and help him see what he is throwing away? Help him realize who he really is? And help him discover that love was there all along? You will have to watch ZOOKEEPER but believe me, it teaches you more than you ever thought possible.
..and yes please DON'T litter at the zoo because animals can eat that junk and even die from it or get very sick. Watching the animals talk to Griffin was hilarious, the gorilla did a great performance (I think it was a costume).
They combined real animal footage at the zoo with speaking ability of course but it was so entertaining and makes you think about your life and what you are really destined to be, to do...do you stay doing what you love albeit with a low salary or do you pursue something else that may pay a higher salary but you don't like anywhere near as much! Its a tough call.
..Bottom line- ZOOKEEPER IS A HIT! Recommended all the way!
