Review of Zone of the Dead (2011) by Angel J — 11 Mar 2010
Being a zombie fanatic and a big enthusiast on zombie flicks, I thought the reviews for this film was way to harsh then it was. First let's bring up the budget of this film. For a foreign American influences zombie film, it did a okay job in delivering as a zombie flick.
A Zombie flick should have three certain characteristics to make it a decent zombie movie. It needs fantastic make up, a very dynamic location, and a shit load of action. I believe this movie hit these three points.
It didn't hit it with the same amount of force as the Dawn of the Dead remake or The Crazies, but it made for a decent movie. I would agree that this was very cheesy, but than again, what zombie movie isn't cheesy.
I really enjoyed the cheesiness and corniness of this film and I would see it again. I always encourage and promote up and coming film makers to make zombie flicks. That's how George A Romero started.
Although, I must admit, there are many plot holes and over dramatic acting, but the strong suits of this film wasn't the story. This film led from its action packed zombie murders and suspense.
