Review of Zombieland (2009) by Luke M — 24 Mar 2014
Director Ruben Fleischer packs gore galore, inventive kills and big laughs in a very short space of time, Zombieland is a fast paced comedy that has one hell of a cool cast. Jesse Eisenberg's plays Columbus, a loner by nature who wanders zombie filled America.
Eisenberg's nerdy charm is at it's most likeable here, and playing against the energetic and hilarious Woody Harrelson makes for some fun banter and big character differences. Columbus follows a list of rules, whereas Harrelson's Tallahassee goes in for blood-splattered kills.
With the sexy Emma Stone playing a feisty survivor alongside the very talented Abigail Breslin as Stone's sister, this odd comedic bunch couldn't be more fitted, this is a fresh zombie movie with guffaw inducing laughs, but it's only flaw is that the laughs are somewhat scattershot and once the ride is over, you're almost wanting more after it's measly 90 minutes.
