Review of Zombie Strippers! (2008) by Jason B — 12 Oct 2008
Zombie Strippers certainly is as cheesy as one might expect from the title, but there is a surprising amount of social commentary layered in as well. Shots are made at the US government, existentialism, and even that catty envious beauty thing models tend to go through. Except this is a little more than a binge and purge tirade. As the zombie strippers get all the stage time the human strippers begin to question there self worth and some willingly become zombies to compete. It seems crazy but there is a surprising amount of depth present despite the comedic nature of the film.
As expected the acting is pretty bad. How bad you ask? Well Jenna Jameson put in probably the best performance of the film. So yeah, that bad. But the acting actually works giving it a kind of grindhouse quality and making the comedic moments that much more insane.
The zombies effects were actually pretty well done. Missing limbs and sometimes even jaws as well as great splatter when they started getting mowed down.
This really is only for zombie die hards but is actually a lot better than one might expect. And really you haven't seen the ping-pong trick until you've seen Jenna do it with amped up zombie powers and a few pool table balls. A bwahahaha moment if there ever was one.
