Review of Zombie Strippers! (2008) by Alex S — 11 Nov 2008
You have to give the team credit for coming up with an in-your-face title that does not lie: this is a movie with zombies, strippers and zombie strippers. If you're still reading this, then congratulations because chances are good you have the right sense of humor needed for this.
Jenna Jameson becomes the Rhino Bar's hottest attraction when a zombie infestation (the outbreak resulted from a failed government experiment, of course) turns her into an undead stripper. Bar owner Robert Englund soon finds himself managing a team of spotlight stealing strippers who engage in some downright hilarious attacks on the living to feed their appetite.
And really, this is where the movie shines. Everyone in the film knows it is bad (the zombie containment team is laughably bad at acting) and cannot possibly be taken seriously and they run with it. Stereotypes are capitalized to ridiculous proportions (Paco is practically a living caricature who actually gets some of the best lines), people are dismembered in very creative ways (one poor onlooker gets a billiard ball to the face, made all the more tragic/hilarious when you see how it gets airbourne) and the story disappears for a good hour.
A limited budget, weak sets that are used with great frequency and seriously dreadful acting bring it down but what do you expect? "Cult classic" does not even begin to describe this one.
