Review of Zombie Strippers! (2008) by Ed K — 08 Mar 2009

Homage to schlocky Troma era exploitation films with boobs and gore? a cleverly subversive critique of current government and politics? a movie that features strippers and zombies in creative combinations? a starring vehicle for Jenna Jameson that *isn't* x-rated and involves double penetration?

The answer to all these questions is 'yes'. Personally my enjoyment of this film wasn't that great, but perhaps I went into it with the wrong state of mind (sober) and not being versed in classic french philosophic plays, found it hard to appreciate the existentialism peppered throughout scenes filled with boobs and blood. But it's certainly a film that pulls no punches on any level and is good fun with the right crowd, but it's not for everyone.

I personally felt it to be a '2' from my own enjoyment but give it a '4' star rating for effort, certainly compared to much of the big budget hollywood oscar-contender drivel of recent months. So that averages out to a nice '3'. Rent it if you're curious, but I cannot guarantee you'll like it. Then again you might have a great laugh.

My only real dissapointment is that Ms Jameson has really gone overboard with the cosmetic surgery and it shows all over her face, but oddly it kind of helps augment the zombie makeup later.
