Review of Zombie Strippers! (2008) by Paddy D — 02 Jul 2009
Violence, nudity and constant political commentary. This must be the least subtle movie I've ever seen.
The movie sets the score right in the beginning with the extremely anti-Bush "newsreel" footage, where Bush Junior never left the office. Second World War era propaganda was more subtle in its political commentary, and it's easy to imagine that republicans won't feel at home watching this.
Violence and splatter aren't any less prominent, and the zombies look genuinely quite disturbing, especially the strippers later in the film. As one could assume from a movie starring Jenna Jameson, the stripping scenes aren't exactly PG-13 either.
Not surprisingly, the story is less than remarkable and can be pretty easily guessed just by reading the title. If the terms "secret government virus project", "strip club" and "tough marine squad" are mentioned, no surprises should be expected. Of course, ciriticising a movie like this for having little in the way of the story is like complaining how a beer brand fails to help one with losing weight.
All in all, if a movie is named Zombie Strippers and features Jenna Jameson, it shouldn't be difficult to guess what's to be expected. If you find strip tease, violence and/or extremely thick political commentary offensive, keep away. If none of these pose a problem, you could do a lot worse than Zombie Strippers. Just be sure to shut down your brain before the movie starts.
