Review of Zombeavers (2014) by Thomas L — 13 Jan 2015
Well hell.. the title really says it all does it not? The ultra low budget horror film has always been a good avenue for up and coming talent. It is evident that the cast and crew of Zombeavers had some fun, and it translates well to the screen.
The script is riddled with genre in jokes, and as a horror aficionado I'm not gonna lie.. I laughed quite a bit. The opening sequence in which a barrel of medical research waste falls off the back of a truck and into a river is plucked directly from one of my childhood favorites (and a supremely under appreciated horror sequel) Return Of The Living Dead Part 2.
The vacationing twenty somethings are all of course walking stereotypes who bask in blissful obliviousness. It wouldn't be a party with out gratuitous nudity in the first ten minutes, and thankfully the slutty girl of the bunch has that covered.
Once the beaver munching mayhem starts it's pretty hard not enjoy it. And yes.. I am aware of how that last sentence sounds. The toothy critters are quite endearing in all of their white eyed snarling glory.
What else can I say? You'll either watch it with a smile, or shake your head in mock disgust.
