Review of Zodiac (2007) by Katy H — 23 Jun 2014
Have watched 'Zodiac' a number of times and am always gripped by the very clever use of colour, cinematography techniques (a matter-of-factness in close-up and framing) editing and very astute casting.
This is a tremendously dense and fact-laden story which might have been lost sight of if not for Fincher's dedication. Less than half way through the film, the three principle detectives interview Arthur Leigh Allen at his work place and through a couple of semi-closeups two of the detectives actually speak right to the camera - displacing any pre-conceived notions the audience might be entertaining about Allen being just another suspect in a long list.
Brilliant.
