Review of Zodiac (2007) by Angel G — 04 Aug 2012
David Fincher succeeds again with this quiet, but intense thriller. Every killing scene or imagery in the movie is brutal and perfectly build just like in "Se7en", that is one of the good things Fincher knows how to handle.
The movie has all around charismatic performances from the whole cast, especially Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo and Robert Downy Jr. who had the most charisma and funny moments. Zodiac did something well, and that even if the pacing is a little slow, it builds more, more, and more suspense thanks to its music, cinematography and editing.
The movie is undeniably long, I mean the movie has a lot of dialogue, if it was short it would become one of those confusing movies. So I'm glad it was 2 hours and 35 minutes, its interesting cause this movie is about real events, and its shocking that people were trying to figure out who the zodiac was for 14 years.
And the zodiac is a cruel, dangerous and dark person, scene after scene, kill after kill, he was a terrifying character. Zodiac may be long and may have slow parts, but intense suspense, disturbing imagery and killing scenes, the excellent cast who delivers charismatic and powerful performances, a well-written script and the anxiety of Gyllenhaal's character to find out who the killer (or the zodiac) is.
.brilliant.
