Review of Zodiac (2007) by Jacob B — 28 Jan 2015
David Fincher's Zodiac is a fantastic movie that is quite scary consider that it happened in real life. Even though it's a long movie, every minute of it is necessary and it doesn't seem to be filler at all.
The characters are very memorable, and actually changes throughout time which is quite refreshing as when time goes by, people do change. Jake Gyllenhaal, Robert Downey Jr, Mark Rufflio, and the rest of the cast are fantastic in it and they are perfect for it and if it was someone else that was not as good, then the movie would've been boring.
There's some funny moments in it, and the movie doesn't focus on the gory effects, but more on the anxiety of it as I got really invested by it. The writing is really great, and I was focusing on it too because if I don't listen to them talking, then I would've missed something and got lost, which is something that I never done in a genre like this besides some romance films.
I also like that no matter how long the case is going, even if they give up on it, there's always going to be someone who wants to solve the case. It's very unpredictable, it really make you feel like a detective and make you want to look at every little detail of it.
The ending is also great which makes me think that some movies should do stuff like that. In the end, Zodiac is a very gripping and well-acted film that shows that even slow paced movies can be very interesting to watch.
