Zoya Akhtar's Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is about 3 friends going on a bachelor road trip, and discovering themselves!
The writing by Reema Kagti and, the director as well, Zoya Akhtar, is strong.
They have a clear idea, and make sure of the identities of the characters. This keeps the movie in a line!
The way they have detailed and shaped each character, is amazing!
The story and screenplay go together, not letting the movie be too slow or fast!
Farhan Akhtar's dialogues are superb! Right from a college professor's mimicry to laugh - a - minute jokes to to everything, he just fits everything perfectly with the movie!
Javed Akhtar's writing of Farhan's poetry, and lyrics, bring a new life to the movie. Not only does it bring out Farhan's emotions, it also echoes the movie's emotions as well!
It's a throwback to those brilliant poems, that have disappeared from Hindi cinema!
Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy's music and background score is great! The perfect blend of foot tapping - soulful!
Carlos Catalan's cinematography is superb! The way he shows the character's point of view is brilliant! It just puts you in their shoes!
Zoya Akhtar's direction is superb! She makes sure it's not just a road trip entertainer! She makes you feel, what you feel about your life, with the characters! She moves you completely, with her emotions!
The performances.
Hrithik Roshan , Abhay Deol and Farhan Akhtar gives superb performances as 3 best friends! Their chemistry is something to be seen!
Hrithik Roshan looks superb with his Greek god looks, and personality! The way his character develops, he is in complete sync with that!
Abhay Deol gives a fresh performance. He's superb, as the guy on his bachelor trip!
Farhan Akhtar gets to show his comic and sensitive side, in full force! No forcefulness at all! The way he quotes the poetry, makes you stop everything and listen!
Basically, this movie is about experiences, about what the characters feel, and you feel with them! It's beyond an entertainer! You won't leave the theatre, with a happy smile, but with a thought of your own self!
