Review of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011) by Ritesh S — 24 Jul 2011
A quintessential celluloid version of a guy's dream - ZNMD works for mme on more levels than one! First of all, an excellent script! One might think ZNMD is an offspring of Hangover and Dil Chahta Hai (which is what I gathered from the promos), but there's much more to the movie than that:
- Exotic locations - Check (Have always loved Spain!).
- A great cast - Check.
- Refreshing soundtrack - Check (Prolly d best S-E-L work in a long time).
- A bagful of L-O-L moments - Check (Japanese school girl, Bagwati, Chudail alert!).
- And the heart and mind in the right places - CHECK!
If at all I have any problem with the movie (and its very very puny) its that the movie tends to be a bit preachy. But the best part is that its not the Aamir-Khan-kinda preachy. It's more like being advised by a very close friend whom you have known for years!
A filmmaker is as good as his/her last movie. By that logic, I love Zoya Akhtar for giving us Luck By Chance. And I thought, it would be difficult to top that. Well, she may or may not have topped that with ZNMD but she's proved that she's here to stay..
