Review of Zero Effect (1998) by Jeremy H — 10 Sep 2007
I may in fact be the biggest fan ever of this film (it has sat as my #1 favorite film since its release). I don't even know how many times I've seen it anymore, it's surely over a hundred, but it just grows on me more and more everytime.
This is a rare and overlooked gem of a movie. It's handled with meticulous care and detail but at the same time it wafts along so easily and comfortably that unlike some other films with flawless scripts (American Beauty for example) there is no sign of effort in this film, only pure perfection.
Whether that effect came about by accident or by design I have no idea, nor do I think it matters - the result is sublime.
If you haven't see it, see it, and see it again.
