Review of Zero Days (2016) by Anthony B — 08 Jul 2016
Zero Days is the absolute must-see documentary about the Stuxnet virus that destroyed many of Iran's nuclear centrifuges in 2010. Rumored to be the work of Western intelligence agencies, the film states categorically that it was in fact a cyberwarfare attack led by the CIA and the Israeli Mossad.
Moreover, Barack Obama, as commander in chief, was in charge. Although many interviewees refused to even utter the word "Stuxnet," enough people did have the courage to break omerta for documentarian Alex Gibney to craft an Oscar-caliber film.
Zero Days is a wake-up call. Stuxnet was the opening salvo in cyberwarfare: using computer programs to attack a perceived enemy. Yet because it was launched by spy agencies, there was no public discussion.
And now the genie is out of the bottle. Future historians writing about the origins of World War III need look no further than Stuxnet.
