Review of Zero Dark Thirty (2012) by Rebecca Z — 20 Sep 2013
Compare the opening of this propaganda piece to that of Argo -- the latter lays out a balanced and objective historical context for the underlying causes of the Iranian hostage crisis; the former fails to do so.
Instead, we're treated to audio of emergency calls from dying 9-11 victims. Nevermind all that messy CIA involvement with Bin Laden in the 80s, or the million other ways the agency is responsible for so-called "blowback.
" Who are we supposed to be rooting for here -- the cold-blooded international terrorists...or the cold-blooded international terrorists?
