Review of Zero Dark Thirty (2012) by Jeremy C — 03 Apr 2014
People have been criticizing this movie because it implies that information gained from torture helped lead to Bin Laden, but so what? I for one think it's totally unreasonable to say that torture contributed nothing in finding Bin Laden, the real question is was it worth it? Was compromising America's reputation by breaking international laws worth tracking down one of the most wanted men in the world? That's not something I can answer as a non-American.
Bin Laden meant no harm to my country and it wasn't my democratically elected administration that committed crimes against humanity, hell I barely remember 9/11. Future generations will look back on the work of Katherine Bigelow as not just great films but as records of the post 9/11 zeitgeist (god, I hate using that word).
