Review of Zelig (1983) by Bill T — 15 Oct 2011
Very advanced in special effects (and this is a Woody Allen movie!) Zelig features Allen in the title role as a character who has a condition that causes him to physically change into the characteristics of anyone who's around him.
Allen films this as a documentary, and it's brilliantly done. Allen blends into newsreel footage quite seemlessly (oh excuse me Hitler!) (and this is years before Gump) to amazing effect. The story is quite humorous and touching, and Allen gives off some hilarious lines.
The film drags a wee it in the 3rd act though, but picks up in the conclusion. Very well worth seeing if you're into mashups.
