Review of Zeitgeist: The Movie (2007) by Ryan G — 13 Dec 2008
I don't entirely agree with the creepy voice at the beginning that religion is a big plot to control people. I think that's pretty presumptuous and quite frankly a bit offensive. Not to me specifically, as I am an Atheist myself, but when you say "people are slaves to their faith" you might as well call them a sheep and start making sheep noises to they're face.
The actual history of religion and the astrology I found very fascinating. I had read about theories on the relation between scriptures in different faiths having very similar stories all linking back to Egypt, but having the whole thing explained and illustrated brought this sense of clarity.
But I don't know it had this pot-smoking schizophrenic conspiracy theorist narrative to it that made me think that truths were stretched to push a certain bias. It was worth watching, I would recommend it for anyone, even if you don't believe a word of it.
