Review of Zeitgeist: The Movie (2007) by Charles C — 13 Aug 2012
A conspiracy theorists wet dream. It works much like any other film of it's kind; it begins by scaring you, latches on to the small inconsistencies, makes it's own implications, and expands on them to create a house-of-cards story of its own.
The first part, discussing the origins of Christianity, engages in small bits of misinformation, word twisting, and baseless connections, and it all sounds pretty believable if you don't know anything about it.
Then it goes fullblown whackjob by pushing the same 9/11 conspiracy that's been debunked repeatedly between 2001 and 2007. It also hurts it's credibility that there are no interviews or verifiable sources other than news clips.
All of this is easy to refute with a simple google search. If anything, Zeitgeist does accomplish its purpose; it can make the viewer more critical of what he sees and hears. That alone makes it worth watching, but definitely not worth believing.
