Review of Zebraman (2004) by Ronald M — 29 Sep 2007
In my book, this film is funny. Takashi Miike's version of slapstick, anti-hero klutz who is full of naive, sincere, though sheepishly-delivered lines like "kick-ass!" alongside the uber-poses of superheroes in bulging costumes.
The entire film stumbles along with a kind of shy heroics, and so is completely different from other 'goofy hero' films; this is mainly because the heroes in Zebraman have no idea how cool they are, and their amazement at their growing fandom is very funny, very 'human'.
