Review of Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021) by Vsantino — 20 Mar 2021
While I had hoped this movie's 4 hour runtime would mean a little bit more character development and setup than we got, It still is a really fun ride. I do not think its necessarily as thematically strong as something like BvS, which was already an overstuffed story, but here it is excusable given the sheer amount of characters needing introductions in this story.
Given those constraints, the movie does a pretty good job. The first half can feel rather sluggish given the many slow motion scenes and the sequences of scenes may seem choppy, but once the movie starts to pick up, it REALLY picks up.
Some of the coolest comic book movie moments occur with these beloved characters as the movie continues. Despite all of its flaws, I think this movie is guaranteed to entertain you, put a smile on your face, and make you feel for these characters.
The runtime is a big deterrent to most people, and I do think there is probably a three hour version of this movie that is really well paced and still as strong in its character development and themes, but if you are on the fence, definitely give this movie a watch.
