God dammit, Kevin Smith! You really had a good thing going until you had to go overboard with your raunchy tendencies and crap all over the ending ...literally. The movie was surprisingly funny and charming but that all basically went straight downhill by the time constipation came in to play and completely ruined the touching moment that occurred mere seconds before between Zack and Miri.
And on top of that, you resorted to a lame "3 months later" ending that felt cheap and hackneyed. Gaaahhh! Why?? I was able to forgive the Elizabeth Banks miscasting (she did a great job with the role but she's way too hot to play the pathetic, desperate character she was portraying) and I was really surprised that I was totally immersed in a Kevin Smith movie of all things but then.
..BAM!... you f' it up again. You seem like a cool dude. Hell, I'd have a beer with you on any given day. But why must you be such a terrible director?? You almost fooled me with your Apatow-inspired casting.
Almost. But, no, by the time the end credits roll I've fully realized just how much of a Kevin Smith movie this is ...and it's worse off for it.
