Grossly, comically simplistic in its characters, story and politics. Hard to tell if Antonioni was totally clueless at this point or just having a go at the hippies... either way, the film is lousy and poorly made in every way. However, the final montage of exploding "stuff" (wardrobes of clothes, tables full of food, etc.) is suitably nightmarish and abstract, and evocative enough of the destruction of consumer society (blah blah blah) to qualify as the only inspired, memorable part of the film.

For much better films with similar subjects and settings, look at Twentynine Palms and Punishment Park.
