Review of Z for Zachariah (2015) by Frederic C. B — 26 Apr 2016
The Good:
Compelling performances by Chiwetel Ejiofor and Margot Robbie, as well as Chris Pine despite his lack of screen time. A wonderful analogy/parable of the Adam & Eve story from the bible, with Chris Pine's character being some sort of personification of the Serpent. There's a wonderful study with the contrast between Ann's naive christianity and John's scientific point of view.
The Not-so-Good:
Eventhough it might be meant to be that way, the ending feels a bit underwhelming and unearned. It's hard to see the correlation of the title to the content of the movie. Chris Pine could use a bit more screentime.
