The movie borrowed from the book and that's about as close to the source material we get. They honestly could rename the movie and I'd probably note the similarities and that would be the end of it.

I enjoyed the film with the slow burning story but the thriller angle was replaced and the film never really gets into a higher gear. The ending is one note and had no meat, that was hugely disappointing.

Overall the film works in its own way and will be one of those hidden gems for people to discover.
