Review of Z (1969) by Bob W — 04 Aug 2012
Based on real incidents that took place in Greece Z is a cerebral political thriller with a renewed relevance in today's age of burgeoning social unrest against a back drop of recession and the desperation of those who cling to the belief that Neo-Liberalism works against an increasing number of people beginning to see that it does not.
This film is dark and black in its realism. It packs a punch and echoes recent machinations in countries affected by the Arab Spring and the Occupy movement and it's ensuing demonstrations. The acting, cinematography and music are great and lend an effective Greco/European flavour to the film.
I highly recommend it.
