Review of Yu Yu Hakusho: The Movie - Poltergeist Report (1994) by Max R — 12 Feb 2008

WARNING!!! The following is actually a review for "Yu yu hakusho: Eizo hakusho." I had to put it here, as it is apparently not on Flixster. If anyone can point me to the actual entry for this movie, please don't hesitate to do so as a comment to this review. Now, on to the review...

Yu Yu Hakusho is one of my favorite animes, but this movie was complete trash. The American series is blessed with what could possibly be the best voice acting of any anime. Every voice actually fits the character, and the lines are read convincingly. This movie had what could be the worst voice acting in the history of anything. No words to describe it besides "awful." Now I could easily forgive this if the film had even tried in other areas. The plot is ridiculously weak, and the characters lack everything that makes them entertaining in the show. They exist only to do their moves, not to be round characters. Even the fighting lacks the climax it does on the series, Yusuke and the gang just plow through rows of cannon fodder.

I urge you to check out the series, but this film has nothing in it, even for the biggest fans of the series.
