Review of Youth Without Youth (2007) by Jeff R — 26 Dec 2007
5 stars for ambition and scope -- it can't live up to he ambition but I think that's part of the point of an older filmmaker making a film he perhaps wanted to make as a youth (bringing a self-relexive meaning to the title) yet cannot escape the experiences his life have brought him.
The visuals are beautiful and the plot not nearly as much of a mess as some seem to find it.
The use of mirrors, doubles, and upside down images alone is worth the price of the ticket.
