Review of Youth Without Youth (2007) by Kevin D — 28 Feb 2008
A labor of love for Coppola, unfortunately riddle with inscrutable hokum. Roth really seems at a loss trying to bring life to his Methuselan oddball of a character. "Der Untergang" 's Alexandra Maria Lara is luminous, and in spite of an over-reliance on montages of alphanumerics scrolling across the screen, it's a beautiful movie, with that dreamlike quality Coppola and Walter Murch have captured on film before .
Still, it ain't got nothing on "Altered States".
