Review of Youth Without Youth (2007) by James H — 07 May 2008
You can forgive Coppola for making this. It's the kind of film he always wanted to make but never had the chance until now. It deals with some heavy philosophical questions & themes like mortality, the meaning of existence etc, ultimatley I found this all a bit confusing.
I was surpised about the lack of production quality considering the names behind it, at times it looked like a made-for-tv-movie, not very natural at all. The idea behind this is grand but the execution is not.
For a far superior film about metaphysics, go watch Aronofsky's 'The Fountain'.
