Review of Youth in Revolt (2009) by Jess H — 03 Feb 2011
At one point, I wondered if Michael Cera knew that he was doing more harm than good to himself. Youth in Revolt is knockout with one big laugh after another as we focus on Nick (Cera) and his ill-fated life.
When he falls for a young girl taken, he manifest himself into another person with an ugly side. I believe Cera wants to leave the character he always plays in films, so he creates Francois. He's an evil despicable contemptable person that creates a lot of laughs.
This isn't just back talking or misbehavior. It's a lot worse than that. There is great supporting cast all having to deal with the evil Francois. Would I call this romantic? I would if you're okay with bad.
