Review of Youth in Revolt (2009) by Geoffrey T — 11 Apr 2012
First of all, ignore every trailer or commercial you've ever seen for this movie. They are a blatant misrepresentation of everything in the movie from tone to subject matter to characters. Now, this movie is actually really funny.
It's snarky and sarcastic with a stuck up narrator who completely embodies the teenage smart ass. Some of the plot developments have some interesting things to say about dating and acceptance, and I'm glad it was went about in a more original way than a typical teen movie.
It's not perfect by any means, but it's really smart, punchy, and true to the teenage intellectual. Oh, and for some scenes, you'll enjoy it more if you leave your morality at the door and remember it's just a movie.
