Review of Youth in Revolt (2009) by Jarrett M — 23 Jun 2012
Youth in Revolt is a flawed film, but I still found it enjoyable. And while it didn't deliver a lot of laughs, it delivers enough to be entertaining. The film does have an odd sense of humour about itself that may turn some people off.
The story is pretty rudimentary and very common, and the writing is sufficient, never getting to the point of being clever enough to be genius, but never falling flat either. The real determining factor is whether or not you enjoy Micheal Cera.
He doesn't exactly break new ground, performance-wise, but he is on par with most of his previous performances. The rest of the cast is good, but not exactly great. In the end, that's kind of my feeling on the movie itself.
Good, but not great. Worth a look if you like Micheal Cera, but I can't recommend going out of your way to find this.
