Not funny, not meaningful, and with a stupid plot. (PS. Yes, I do usually like dark and dry humor. This movie just wasn't funny.) It portrays an unhealthy relationship we're supposed to root for (the guy drugs her against her knowledge so she'll flunk out of boarding school and they'll get to live in the same town together again - HOW ROMANTIC), with trope characters I found it hard to like or even care about.

I tried to figure out what was going to happen to Cera's character at the end (caught and sent to jail? Because even though he was 16, it's not unheard of that he could be tried for an adult..

.or maybe he'd die? Or they'd run away together?) then I realized I really didn't care either way. I tried really hard to like this movie, but I was just ambivalent about it all. The actors are okay and it was interesting to see Cera break out of his role even a little in the alter ego, and there was a good cast and very pretty shots, but that was its sole saving grace.

If you care about plot or characters or anything interesting besides pretty people in pretty places, skip it. Completely forgettable and mindless.
