Review of Youth (2015) by Lisa D — 10 Jan 2016
Youth is beautifully filmed. The soundtrack is gorgeous and the acting is impeccable. In spite of the serious topic, there are moments of levity, including a self-conscious discussion of levity. The film is very slow paced and there is no plot.
There are many "asides" that feel unnecessary, but that's also true of life in general, after all. If you just want to relax and enjoy a filmmaker's vision, Youth is a great way to do it.
I personally felt Jane Fonda's brief performance alone was worth the price of admission.
